Guillain Barre Syndrome Recovery Rate For Patients With Guillain Barre Syndrome?

Recovery rate for patients with Guillain Barre Syndrome? - guillain barre syndrome

My mother was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre last week (10/22/06). He had progressed a tingling in the fingers and toes the afternoon of Sunday, and was lower than the day. On Sunday evening, my father had an ambulance for her and last week he was completely paralyzed in the intensive care call artificially alive. Two days later (Wednesday 10/24) had their first plasmapherisis and 5 treatments, EVERYOTHER day, today is the last treatment.

Since last week's movement back into his arms and legs. He can move his feet, shrugged his shoulders and can move his head yes and no.

I want to know, basically, if you expect that the ventilator turned off? How long does it take to be able to get out of bed? How long can you go on your own again? This disease has so suddenly, without warning, and my family is totally distraught by this. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, first you should know that the Guillain-Barre syndrome has many clinical situations and different shapes, all playing a different prognosis. The fact that his mother is being introduced on a ventilator in intensive care that there is a severe form of the syndrome. Plasmapheresis is an appropriate treatment, and seems to make progress, but could still be weeks before they did not ask questions about specific respiratory support. You send the doctor of your mother, as he knows the case, but could not not be able to whatever you want to know, respond. You must have patience! I hope your mother is coming soon!

Hers began when she was bitten by a snake in your garden, and after she has been so ill and going to the hospital algae eventually said that he Guillain-Barre, who had never heard of him ... . I can tell you could not walk, go to the toilet by himself, had to be delayed, fed, etc., was in poor condition .... But the good news! This lady is back to work and do good, that his party with a weakness in the muscles, etc., but it's very good now, Fairley recycling rate well, but take your time .... This is my friend there about 4 years ago and took a year to begin the recovery .... This disease occurs suddenly, and we all thought it was biting the snake, which we never learned, but they are not, they do not seem to know what the cause it.If the bite to my friend who has caused this disease, could hardly something to your mother, who knows .... But he should improve in May, but he left with some weaknesses .... sorrythat should go to EA, in spite of that we are all so devastated, so I understand .... There is another disease that act the same way as Guillain-Barre syndrome, which is Lou garrets disease, the same way and have the same syymtoms .... Good luck

What is the prognosis?

Guillain-Barre syndrome can be a devastating disease because of the sudden and unexpected. Most people reach the stage of greatest weakness within the first 2 weeks after onset of symptoms, and the third week of the disease by 90 percent of patients are at their weakest point. The payback period can be as small as a few weeks or as long as several years. About 30 percent of those with Guillain-Barré still a residual weakness after 3 years. About 3 percent may suffer a relapse of muscle weakness and tingling sensations many years after the first attack.

Hello. What is very traumatic. These are all important questions, and in the best case for the doctor to her mother. Since every body is different, it really comes to the stage of the disease as it responds to treatment, age, general health, etc. You should write your question here and send MD. He or she will be able to give accurate answers.

Good luck.
