Eagle Globe And Anchor Clip Art American Marine Tie Clip Question?

American Marine tie clip question? - eagle globe and anchor clip art

I have a pair of tie U.S. Navy (PIN). He has my father when I was in the Royal Marine Commandos in Lympstone in the late sixties by a commission of captain in the U.S. Marines.

Apparently it is made of solid gold and was a gift from Captain America, the British troops, in recognition of his time with them.

I wonder whether someone met the problem was and if there is a value or interest. Obviously, outside of what looks like a globe in his hand (showing America) with an anchor, what about him and looks like an eagle at the top.

Where can I learn more? Has anyone found a trick? What value does it have?

I have never seen gold is real.

But what you describe is the emblem of the Marine Corps

The eagle represents our Air Wing (drivers) (also in the United States)
Where in the world, our ground troops
The Anchor tradition of our Navy

Air Sea Land

If gold was really value would have only gold, when you click on any value with colector want to have because of his age, if they do not like sand at the beach.

It probably has an intrinsic value when it gold.

But it should be invaluable to you. It was given to his father. That if it is priceless. It was given by another soldier from another country. This should be your father's money.

If you do not, I sat down with the regiment of his father and asks if you want it for his museum.

It would be useful if you have documents ... a note from the U.S. Navy, the confirmation of his story from his father.

There are probably thousands of things like this are rejected because the families do not know what they have. I knew a man who was an officer in the Second World War. He had a business card and a sheet of rice paper with a note from a Japanese prison, showed kindnESS and respect. Perhaps your family just throw things when the boy died.

I am I, You are you said...

I'm not sure that any monetary value. As a former active duty Marine I can tell you that the symbols are listed in the world of the eagle and anchor.
For the U.S. Marines is an honor to represent and maintain. This is our symbol in the Marine Corps, and keep yourself protected. The eagle is liberty, the anchor symbolized the sea (the way the Marines will be initially used in a conflict), and the world is when it is necessary to be defending our country and our freedoms.

Sentimental invaluable.

The value Doller ... You can buy the conclusion of a new brand or a tie pin tie for about $ 7 - $ 15 in cash from the sale of weapons to a database.

You can try to save a military surplus. Perhaps a "veteran" have an interest.

It would probably be best to see the Royal Marines or the Royal Naval Museum of contact, whether they have an interest. Despite the collection of military memorabilia is massive. Maybe the veterans can enter the company or the British Legion in touch?
